Transcription assistants work with the production team to prepare manuscripts for embossing — checking layout, tables and footnotes, and proofreading the finished braille against the source text.
Knowledge of braille is useful but not required; we teach the notation to anyone willing to learn it, and several of our current assistants started with none.
